Oil Mill Plants

Oil Mill equipment typically includes:

Oil Extraction

After preparation, the oil is separated from the oilseed material. Two principal extraction technologies are used: Mechanical extraction and solvent extraction.

Mechanical Extraction

Mechanical extraction is commonly carried out using a screw press or oil expeller. The prepared seed is fed into the press. A rotating screw conveys the material through a chamber where the available volume progressively decreases and pressure is generated. This pressure causes oil to be expressed from the seed. The process produces two principal streams:

Crude oil + press cake

The crude oil contains suspended particles and therefore requires further clarification and treatment. The press cake contains residual oil and may be used directly as a valuable by-product or subjected to further extraction. Mostly by Solvent extraction.
